The traditional technique of Cloisonne, which involves decorating metal objects by hand, has been practiced in China for centuries. This intricate process involves creating pockets, or cloisons, out of copper or bronze wire, which are then filled with glass paste or enamel. Each pocket is a vital component of the overall design. This stunning one of a kind vintage Cloisonne vase has been painted by hand using a dark blue color for the background, creating an elegant canvas for the sprawling peony flower motif. The vibrant red, teal, and periwinkle peony flowers add a pop of color, turning this piece into a beautiful ornamental object. Care
If possible, always keep bronze and similar metal materials in ventilated areas away from excessive heat or humidity. For regular cleaning, use a damp microfiber cloth making sure to remove any excess water or moisture left behind. For crevices and areas that are tough to get to, use a soft bristled brush.
It is natural for a greenish patina to develop on bronze over time. This is a result of a natural oxidation process as the bronze is exposed to the environment. Occasional application (1-2 times per year) of WD-40 can help prolong this process.
