Recovered from a Ningbo Village, this small rectangular Oriental mirror bears an imposing aura. The mirror frame features elaborate high-relief carvings of spiraling flowers and vines. Nesting throughout the intricate design are Chinese auspicious clouds, key motifs, and longevity emblems. The carvings are detailed with a distressed gold trim, creating a breathtaking contrast against the vermillion wooden back panels.
Although weathered by the ceaseless course of time, this mirror has retained its original wooden backing, hanging wire, and mirror, carrying with it a rich history from the old East. It can be re-purposed as a functional mirror or serve as a decorative art piece that brings an Asian touch to any room it is placed.
Care
Antique wood furniture and decor should not be cared for in the same way that modern furniture is cared for. Avoid polishes, abrasives, and oils as this can alter the piece over time. Like all wood furniture, avoid direct exposure to sunlight, heating vents, and other heat sources as the dryness caused by these can damage the wood.
Regular cleaning can be done using a damp microfiber cloth. Make sure to remove any excess moisture left behind.
