Painstakingly carved from a single root of aromatic cedar by a skilled artisan, this sculpture is a unique work of art to be collected. Through the creative hands of the artist, the lifelike figure of the Buddhist Monk, Damo, standing beneath an elm tree emerges from the organic body of the cedar root. Damo, or the Bodhidharma, is traditionally credited as the transmitter of Zen Buddhism to China and regarded as its first Chinese patriarch. According to Chinese legend, Damo also introduced the physical training of Buddhist monks, which many believe led to the creation of Kung fu. His accomplishments have elevated his image to the level of legend. This statue comes with a matching wooden stand and is a one of a kind treasure to be collected.
Care
Avoid polishes, abrasives, and oils as this can alter the piece over time. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, heating vents, and other heat sources as the dryness caused by these can damage the wood.
Regular cleaning can be done using a damp microfiber cloth. Make sure to remove any excess moisture left behind.
