Painstakingly carved from a single root of aromatic cedar by a skilled artisan, this sculpture is a unique work of art to be collected. Through the creative hands of the artist, the lifelike figure of a meditating Guanyin beneath a blooming lotus blossom emerges from the organic body of the cedar root. Guanyin means "one who hears the cries of the world." She is the bodhisattva of mercy, modesty, compassion, and wisdom. In the Buddhist tradition, Guanyin is an enlightened soul and no longer needs to reincarnate. However, it is said that while Guanyin was ascending into the spirit world, she heard the cries of the suffering humans. As a result, she chose to remain in the physical world to help other beings attain enlightenment. This statue comes with a matching wooden stand.
